TechBridges is an innovative first-of-its-kind on-campus program held in one of the greatest cities in the world: New York City, High school students participate in exciting interactive activities in technology, design, and art while working together with students all around the world. Students develop 21st century skills such as technology literacy, creativity, collaboration, critical thinking while being exposed to eye-opening on-site field trips and talks from mentors and successful professionals.

CAMP FACILITIES: Summit has approx. 30 traditional wooden cabins with electric and private facilities in each cabin. Our main buildings include our newly refinished dining hall, air-conditioned recreational hall, our medical facility, and a newly built outdoor pavilion. Summit utilizes three A frame buildings for our arts programs, a wilderness treehouse with camp fire area for cookouts, newly resurfaced basketball/tennis courts, high/low ropes course with climbing wall, heated pool, private lake, nature fields with a farm area, martial arts dojo, go-kart track with 3 karts. Summit has a small amphitheatre adjacent to our lake, with a miraculous view of our beautiful setting where we enjoy swimming, canoeing, and riding our banana boats. Our camp resides on a gently rising hillside, thus providing us with the physical basis for our motto, "The Magic on the Hill."

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Summit Camp is a co-ed sleepaway camp for ages 8-19 years with issues of attention: AD/HD, HFA/Asperger’s Disorder, and/or learning differences. Using the frame of a traditional sleepaway camp, we create platforms of success where our campers can experience outcomes such as improved self-esteem, lasting friendships, and increased independence. This is accomplished through a well-orchestrated and expertly staffed backdrop to a largely traditional camp experience- guided challenges, waterfront, adventure course, and more. It is our goal and desire to take our campers from observing peer interactions to engaging in them, to learn and celebrate their own strengths and successes, and to feel a sense of belonging and shared community with those around them while they are with us.

Our Teen Travel program extends the Summit community to provide a safe yet exciting adventure to one of our many attractive national and international destination tours offering 14 day and 19 day excursions. Summit Weekenders provide a youth-group style social retreat for adolescents to have an oasis of independence, enjoyment, and success during the school year months. Regardless of the specific program, Summit provides an expertly staffed, highly structured, and truly fun experience for our youth, and has been doing so since 1969. Summit is accredited by the American Camp Association and takes pride in our long term commitment to and successes in working with special needs youth.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our Transitions to Adult Living Skills program for youth aged 15-19 provides learning and vocational opportunities for our teens. We also have vocational programs for upper camp including, big brother/big sister, waiter/waitressing, working in a specialty area or as UL assistant, photography, and more. Our SUPER TEEN program focuses on building the executive function and daily living skills OUR kids needs to succeed as independently as possible.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Summit provides weekender programs in metropolitan areas throughout the country which run from Friday evening until Sunday mid-day that provide an oasis of social involvement for our youth. NY/NJ and DC/VA weekenders meet on a monthly basis.

Camp SAY was established with one goal in mind – to provide children who stutter with a highly immersive and accepting summer camp experience that builds self-confidence and helps children develop the vital communication skills they need to fully express themselves without fear, bullying or ridicule.

Complementing our wide range of exciting traditional camp activities, Camp SAY provides each child with unique experiences that challenge them in a safe way, creating a strong sense of achievement and helping them confidently navigate the unique issues that children who stutter face in the everyday world.

STAFF
The staff is dedicated to creating a safe and accepting environment where every child can find their beautiful and unique voice. Approximately 80% of children return to camp. Parents and campers tell us it’s our staff and unique approach that consistently exceed expectations, making Camp SAY such a rewarding and transformative experience.

We provide an excellent Staff-to-Camper Ratio: With Camp’s leadership team, camp counselors, specialized activities staff and more, our staff-to-camper ratio is 1 staff member for every 2-3 campers. In addition, each bunk is staffed at night with at least 2 counselors for an average of 6-10 campers.

Counselors complete a comprehensive training program to support the social, emotional and physical needs of all our campers. Staff development includes leadership training and extensive information about stuttering, camper health and safety, camp philosophy, policies and procedures and much more. Additionally, Specialized Activities Staff is carefully selected based on their skills and expertise.

Talented Nursing Team: Your child’s safety and well being is our highest priority. Our camp is staffed by a full-time, on-site registered nurse who can properly dispense any family-provided medications and can access medical specialists as needed.

Traveling to Camp SAY: Campers come from all around the country and abroad. We work closely with families to make each child’s trip to Camp SAY as safe and enjoyable as possible. We schedule a chaperoned flight from the southeast to New York City. Children taking individual flights are welcomed at the gate by camp staff. CAMP FACILITIES: The Queens College is a beautiful landscaped 79-acre campus with out-door and in-door tennis courts and playing fields for soccer, softball and lacrosse. The Fitzgerald Gym is 40,000+ sq ft. basketball and volleyball courts and an 25 yard length pool.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: EDUCATION AND SPORTS PROGRAM: ages 5 -14 This program provides enrichment for youngsters who wish to develop talents and interests outside their regular schools. THEATER PRODUCTION: ages 9-14
Do you enjoy acting? Do you like to dance? Are you artistic—can you create scenery and costumes? Or would you rather go behind the scenes and become a stage manager? This program will teach campers the many different aspects to creating a successful musical play. The Theater Production will stimulate your child’s imagination while equipping them with valuable traits such as self-esteem and confidence. Join the fun as we put together a musical for parents and peers to see! Past musicals have included The Little Mermaid, Jungle Book, Oliver, Mary Poppins, and others!

CAMP FACILITIES: Campers attending Shankitunk for a week of summer fun will be assigned to one of our 15 rustic wooden cabins along the meadows edge. We have an outdoor swimming pool, low ropes course, basketball court, volleyball court, dining hall, craft hall, recreation pavilion, soccer field, archery range, Science Center, bathhouse with hot water and showers, maintenance shop, hiking trails, and river access for nature exploration.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: 4-H Camp Shankitunk is the oldest continuously operating 4-H camp in New York State. We first opened in 1927 as a vacation getaway for farm children in Delaware County, and have been providing a memorable experience for campers from all over the state and even other states ever since.

Our program has many rich traditions that have inspired grown campers to send their children back and even their grandchildren. Our chicken BBQ dinner, visit from the Delaware County Dairy Princess, closing candle ceremony, songs, class options, friendships, and flag salute are just a few. We hire a staff of approximately 40 each year, many of whom have been with us since they were old enough to attend Shankitunk themselves, but we love to welcome new faces into our camp family too. CAMP FACILITIES: Students will use Hofstra's top-notch facilities, including their Olympic sized pool, while being taught by experts from Nassau BOCES. Time will be split between the classroom and the pool, where students will design and build a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) and learn about methods in underwater archaeology.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The course will begin with an introduction to the history of marine exploration. Then, as part of a team, they will design and build an underwater ROV and test their designs in the water. Students will also have the opportunity to work with a marine archaeologist and participate in an antique "helmet dive" in Hofstra's pool.

For our LITs, we have adopted the CDOS (Continual Development of Skills) system, where every week a new skill will be introduced. Our leaders will need to practice the skill the whole week. CAMP FACILITIES: Swimming Pool, Frog Pond, Butterfly Garden, Greenhouse, Lake, Rowboarting, Fishing, High/Low ropes course, basketball court, archery range, seasonal and winterized accomodations that can sleep 300 during the summer at 100 during the winter.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Troop Camping
Troop leaders may take their girls camping for a weekend to Camp Kaufmann from September- May. Troop camping is a weekend event up to 72 hours in duration, planned and carried out by a troop at camp. The troop leaders reserve the housing and plan for meals and activities.

For any camping trip, the troop must have on certified first-aid and cpr certified adult for each group up to 44 campers. Each house or unit must have its own first aid/cpr certified adult. If you plan to use a fireplace, fire ring or seasonal unit, you need a camp certified adult (see training section). If you are staying in a lake house and do not plan on using a fire place or pit, then you will only need an adult who has taken the Overnight Adventures and Beyond training. Transportation is not provided for these weekends.

Outdoor Classrooms for Troop Camping
Troops can choose to enhance their experience by hiring one of our experienced counselors to run a specific activity for them. You will notice that there are different classrooms based on the season and they include different prices and lengths. New this year, we are introducing program patches for each of these classrooms. If this is your first time participating in these programs you will want to purchase a base patch for each of your girls. They are available at our camp trading post for $8.50 each. They will receive a free patch at the end of each of their outdoor classrooms, which can velcro onto the base patch!

“Do-It-Yourself” Programs in a Box for Troop Camping
Troops can choose to enhance their experience by renting a program in a box for the weekend. Each season features different boxes. These boxes include all of the programs you will need for the weekend including earned badges for the group.

Special Events
These events are open to all ages. We provide the troop with all of the activities, food and supplies for the weekend. The food and menu will be provided for each troop. The troop will prepare their meal and will be responsible for cleaning up after themselves. We always include a SWAP making station and actual swapping time, so girls can get to know girls from other troops during these weekends. Transportation is not provided for these events.

Girl-Only Weekends
This is an independent experience for older girls. Girls come without their leaders or moms and meet girls from other troops. The girls are provided everything including: programming, transportation, food, experienced counselors and more. Girls work towards specific badges and Journeys.

Day Trips
Girls can enjoy these trips with their moms or with their whole troop (sometimes even their families). These programs are great way for girls to enjoy camp for the first time! All of the programming, supplies and food are provided. Transportation is not.

Summer Weekends
Spend summer weekends swimming, fishing, boating, and having a great time. Come prepared to meet new people and have amazing experiences.

Mini Sleep-Away
If you’re between the ages of 9 and 17, come away with us to sleep-away camp where we’ll help you learn to climb a tree and build your confidence. Sleep-Away Adventure Camp offers girls the chance to experience a world of adventure and discovery. Girls will spend their days learning leadership skills, making friends, and sharing the excitement of going away with other girls.

Encampments
Camping events organized and operated by Troop Camp-certified adult volunteers from a geographic subdivision of the council (i.e. a borough or service unit) in which several troops participate. The program is planned and implemented by volunteers; some of the planning and scheduling may be done by the individual troops.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: New Country Day Camp is an oasis for children growing up in New York City. All of our campers and staff ride the camp bus from stops in North Brooklyn and downtown Manhattan to the beautiful Henry Kaufman Campgrounds on Staten Island. Our older campers spend their mornings with their friends in camp groups of kids their age. In their groups, they'll have an opportunity to try all of our camp programs. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Summers are for having fun. It's a time to spend with friends. To make memories and share experiences that last a lifetime. That's what Mill Basin Day Camp is all about. Mill Basin Day Camp is dedicated to providing an exciting and fulfilling camp experience for both children and their parents by providing fun, recreational, social and educational activities.

We have grown over the past 15 years to become the most popular summer day camp program for kids in the Brooklyn & Queens areas. At least that’s what the kids tell us.

Our staff consists of professionals, many of whom continue to work in child related fields throughout the year. Our directorial staff is comprised of licensed professionals with many years camp experience. All the group leader staff are trained in CPR and First Aid. Our Aquatics programs are staffed by certified and licensed personnel, as required by the NYC Department of Health and American Red Cross.

Safety is our highest priority at Mill Basin Day Camp. We equip our staff and facility with the latest and most modern safety and technological products in order to maintain constant contact and security both on and off the camp facility. Campers also receive Camp Gear which they use throughout the summer.

Our modern, fully air-conditioned facility offers a wide range of activities for children entering Pre-K thru 9th grade in the upcoming September scholastic year. There are Five (5) individual camp programs. Each camp has its own unique and innovative program that best suits the needs of the varying ages of our campers.

There is Pre-School Camp for kids entering Pre-K and Kindergarten. Adventures Camp is for kids entering grades 1 and 2, Stars Camp entering grades 3, 4 & 5.

For older campers there is Explorers Camp for kids going to grades 6 & 7 and they travel as part weeks doing alot of day trips. Finally, there is Teens Camp for teens going to grades 8 & 9 and they are a travel camp. Each group has various methods for integrating new campers into their groups.

Head Counselors are trained to make sure that all campers are introduced to the other campers and are made to feel part of the group in the first few minutes of the camp day. Directors are also at hand to help new campers make any adjustments that they may need.

The typical camp day begins with a first activity at 9:00 am. There are 3 periods in the morning, then lunch, 3 periods in the afternoon. Activities are both indoor and outdoor and are balanced accordingly. Pre-School dismissal times and activities are a bit different and will be explained at a pre-camp parents meeting for registered families.

We realize and understand the pressures facing today's working parents so we have designed a very flexible registration program. Changing your summer schedule by adding, subtracting or changing weeks is never a problem at any time. If summer school is a worry for you, our program is entirely refundable at any time prior to the first day of camp.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have a 61,000 sq.ft. fully air-conditioned recreation facility with a 24,000 sq. ft. main arena and a 12,000 sq.ft. auxiliary gymnasium. The Main Arena has seating for all campers, counselors and parents. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: With Outdoor Adventures, you can learn some of the essentials skills that the pioneers early of America needed for their daily lives. In this exciting new program students will participate in a variety of activities using Nassau BOCES' Brookville Environmental Education Center, including homestead ecology, challenge courses, survival and orienteering. Learn skills like:

Blacksmithing - Students will learn the techniques and tools that were needed at the forge, and put these skills to the test

Outdoor cooking - Students will learn safe fire-building techniques, as well as simple recipes to cook over a fire.

How to build a survival shelter - Students will be taught how to prepare a shelter with the proper materials, in the case of an emergency

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Bonjour NY is a French immersion summer camp located in the heart of New York City. We offer weekly registration from 1 to 9 weeks. Bonjour NY was elected "best camp attended in NY" by our families, is accredited by the American Camp Association and is a NYC licensed.

Our campers spend a lot of time outdoors playing sports, water games, swimming, going out on fun trips to local farms, making bread at local French bakeries.... The staff engages in French only with the campers through live games, songs, arts...

Our staff is fluent in French and comes from all over the world. All staff members are fully trained by Bonjour NY and many are also certified in Advanced First Aid, CPR for the Professional rescuers, lifeguarding...Everybody is carefully selected and a full background check is done on all employees. May of us are teachers and certified educators.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Open House sessions available to families in January, February, March, April and May. Family Camp picnics and shows available to families during our camp season.

CAMP SESSION DATES & FEES:
July 1 to August 30. Nine 1 week sessions Monday to Friday. Full Day or Half day option. We open at 8am and close at 6pm.
Cost: between $445/week and $670/week

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
Looking for French-speaking counselors. Must be fluent in French and available to work in New York City from Mid-June to the end of August.
